The art of Vision.

iI've discovered recently that one of the most powerful tools in our arsenal is Vision. On top of that I have been hammered with the fact that if you combine vision with planning you are on to a winner. I find I often forget this fact and come up short in terms of my career and film making. I've always believed in the value of natural expression which can sometimes happen through freedom from planning, but it is far more likely to happen outside of the needless chaos that is created by lack of planning.

The mind is often scatterd in modern day living with the monstrous amount of distractions that accumulate our view. It is hard to stay focused when so many elements are fighting for your attention. This is where focus and clarity come in for me. I'm finding so often lateley that if I apply my focus to one thing at a time then I get far more done and to a far higher standard. I look back on some of the films I made when I was younger and I admire the creative freedom I expressed in some of my work. Namely 'Me Without I' which you can watch below. It was my third year film in univeristy and went on to recieve praise from my tutors and many others outside of my univeristy course. It even went on to win awards locally which astounded and humbled me.

Looking back at some of the technical choices in the film it is flawed in my eyes now, but back then I didn't care about technical perfection, I just made a film, I just expressed and communicated. That's because it was my main focus, which allowed me to concentrate my energy and skills into one thing which I clealry remember stressing over to get it completed for the deadline. FILMS ARE FRICKIN HARD TO MAKE PEOPLE. <<<<<<< This is the sort of thinking that is holding me back, I'm focused on how hard film making now seems to me. I need that clear focus and clarity of vision that I had back then, I need the urgency and a deadline with my personal creative projects that pushes me to express freely and completely without over thinking it. Just do it as Shia Labeouf would say. 

Just think; "You are an expression of the universe, so express that which is being expressed in you."

Deep breath...ah there you are clarity.
