The Carter Visual website is a portfolio page for filmmaker Rhodri Carter, me, but it's also a website for commercial clients looking to use video effectively in their business and marketing strategy. Whether it's a single promotional film for your website, or a number of videos focused on your company service or products - I have the team, equipment and skill to make it happen.
I act as creative director of Carter Visual, using my 10+ years experience, equipment and skills as an individual to produce a wide variety of content for you, from conceptualisation to production. A team may be required to create high budget commercial films or adverts, in that instance I rely on a highly talented network of crew to join me on the journey to make your content the best it can be for your "buck". ​
That brings me on to pricing, which can be the scariest element for some people when it comes to committing to any service or product. From start to finish I am honest and realistic about costs, but will always try to give my customers the best deal with continued use of my services or package deals for multiple videos. With social media playing a huge part in marketing these days, and video production making up most of that puzzle, it's important costs don't get too high, while also making sure you have enough powerful and engaging content to keep your audience hooked.

When it comes to any video content I create for a client, it always starts with a video call, for introductions, but also to establish exactly what it is you want from your video content. In this initial meeting we will discuss ideas and get to an understanding of the foundations that I can use to go away and develop with (I offer all consultations and treatments as a FREE service to my clients). Once I've developed the idea into a written treatment / proposal, I will then send that over and we can discuss further or move forward into the next stage.

Other elements will be discussed during this process, including contractual agreements, budget and payment terms etc.

Pre-Production
"Planning"

Planning plays a huge part in making sure that the video content we are making communicates the right message and has the impact you want it to have on your clients. Whether alone or with an extended creative team (depending on the project), I'll get to work on planning out shots, visual style, equipment, budget allocation, health & safety, locations and general organisation. Sometimes the client gets involved in this process, for example they may have a location in mind or they may want to film the content on their business premises.

Below​ are some examples of adverts I made that needed extensive planning, the Unique Health & Fitness Advert used storyboards, a creative team and actors. Where as the KLF Advert was made by myself, with a set of questions and some pre-production. Both are made in different styles, with different budgets. Both had the same agenda, "Bring more clients to the product or service".

Production
"The best part"

After the planning comes together we move into "the best part", we get to make the video. With everything organised down to a T, we can turn up up with our equipment or me with my own and we can get shooting using any shot lists or storyboards we have laid out. Using a range of lighting, high quality sound equipment and the latest in camera technology, we get to work gathering all the footage we need to move onto the next stage. I love having the client take part in production as an overseer to make sure that they have their say, but if that is not possible things will be executed exactly how they were communicated to the client beforehand.

POST-PRODUCTION & Delivery
"The part you've been waiting for"

The final piece of the puzzle and the moment you've likely been waiting for, the final delivery of your video content. Depending on the project this can take weeks or even months, but with most short promotional video content, only around a week or two. I usually edit everything I direct or film, ensuring quality control when it matters and making sure the elements we discussed at the start of production are implemented. Music style and the overall editing style of the video would be established before-hand, so things will be as expected, but clients are usually surprised by how much a project can evolve in the edit (in the right way).

I use the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro CC to edit all my work.
Typically I allow a single set of FREE small changes after you've seen the first draft, which allows you to add or remove elements from the content to make sure it matches your vision.
